What we’ve achieved…
The Workplace Health Workgroup has completed its work and disbanded. Here is a selection of its achievements:
Completion and roll-out of workplace health assessment tool
- Developed to assess whether a company’s management of occupational health risks is fit
for purpose - Can be used to review and identify where improvements in internal health systems can
be made so that resources can be better targeted - Occupational health professionals worked with the industry to carry out independent
assessments - Tool is available to download
Developed authoritative database of health-related websites
- Acts as a one-stop-shop for the most informative sources of official information relating to occupational health
- Covers topics such as chemical, physical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial hazards and lists
places to find information on control measures
Played an active role in Health and Safety Executive-run projects
- Assisted development of offshore e-COSHH (Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health)
essentials - Facilitated involvement of Step Change members in development of COSHH guidance
sheets for managers, including OFE (Offshore Food Essentials), OME (Offshore Maintenance
Essentials) and OCE (Offshore COSHH Essentials) - Active participant in HSE’s Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Steering Group and
Noise and Vibration Workgroup - Jointly hosted a seminar introducing e-COSHH essentials in March 2011
- Independent assessments by occupational health professionals will continue to be available
