Leadership Expectations Guidelines
Feedback from the Step Change Boots on for Safety Campaign indicated that supervisors are being prevented from carrying out site visits because of too much paperwork and other distractions. In response Step Change has consulted and identified best practice to form a new proposal to enhance offshore supervision.
The new guidelines will encourage site supervisors to prioritise and set time for site visits (a minimum of 2 hrs each shift at the worksite). This will help them to be aware of what is happening out on the plant. By freeing up time away from their desk they will have more opportunity to speak with there teams and have one to one conversations about safety and any issues around the work activities. More time will be also be available to coach personnel in STOP and other safety processes.
