For regular visitors, we hope you like the new look and find site navigation and search greatly improved. The discussion forum has a new look and you can now upload your material to share with others. The alert system has also been extended so that you can make comments on alerts.

For new visitors, please feel free to use the website. Our remit is to improve Safety through sharing and co-operation so we invite all to use the site regardless of industry or country. You can access all content without registering but to contribute, you need to register.

We are looking for feedback so if you have problems or suggestions please email info@stepchangeinsafety.net.

Feedback so far has been largely positive, but there have been some issues:

New site not acepting your password.  Solution - use the re-set password facility in the Login section (you will need to know your user name).

Unable to change your email address in your profile.  Solution - email info@stepchangeinsafety.net and request that the Support Team facilitate the change.

Notification emails still not working correctly (seperate new content e-mails being received).  This is an ongoing problem that is being worked on by our Web Team.  You can assist by checking your profile and ensuring that you have the correct notifications ticked.

Difficulties in searching for SADIE alerts.  This has now been resolved.  Alerts can now be listed and sorted alphabetically by date or alert number

What’s new-

The new look is themed to the 3 key strategies:

  • Recognise Hazard and reduce Risk
  • Personal Ownership for Safety
  • Asset Integrity
Underpinned by Leadership, Communication and Co-operation.

Each article or resource is linked to the strategies through the header tick boxes, the colours relating to the themed pictures in the header.

The discussion forum has new main threads linked to the strategies and contributors can now upload file attachments such as presentations to share with others. You can also see what other contributions an individual has made and choose to be emailed each time a new comment is added to individual discussion threads.

Incident Alerts can now be added by any registered user not just the nominated individual per company. However, that person still needs to check them before they can be published. The Alerts are also available through an RSS feed so you can add them to your own site.

The new news section allows us to keep you up to date with developments and you can suggest articles for news. There is also an Ezine which registered users will receive periodically if they wish. Our news is also available as an RSS feed for your own newsreader or your own website.

Your own preferences will now determine what you see and get informed about. You can select to receive notifications only related to your interests and industry.

The Search Engine has been dramatically improved. The search has been extended to include more content rather than just the title and keywords and you don’t have to match the words exactly.

Publications and resources are now sorted into main themes and, where they are available in hard copy, they can be ordered through the site. The site also links to our Personal Responsibility for Safety site and we also plan to link to an on-line version of the employing company induction.
