The Step Change in Safety support team help member companies deliver the Step Change vision by facilitating Steering Groups and workgroups, collate good practice and communicate factual information.  The Support Team are the first point of contact for all Step Change matters.        





Les Linklater, Executive Director

Les joined Step Change in Safety in 2012.  He has more than 20 years' experience in the oil and gas industry and previously worked in various topside and subsea technical roles for operators, contractors and service companies.  Les has used his technical experience and passion for developing people to build practical and sustainable training, development and competence solutions in contractor and sector skills environments. 

Gillian Simpson, Programme Delivery Manager

Gillian joined Step Change in Safety in February 2012 after working with Oil & Gas UK on the Well Life Cycle Practices forum.  Before this she was a research scientist - gaining a PhD in molecular biology, an assistant editor of an international scientific journal and a school teacher.

Emily Taylor, Programme Delivery Manager

Emily joined Step Change in Safety in August 2012 after completing a Masters degree in Sustainable Urban Management at Heriot-Watt University.  Emily has worked as a researcher for the Scottish Chamber of Commerce and worked for the 2011 Scottish Census.

Emma Gracie, Support Team Co-ordinator

Emma joined Step Change in Safety in April 2012.  Before she joined the team, she worked in the accounts and office administration departments for energy companies and in the occupational health sector.

Richard Bevan, Programme Delivery Manager

Richard joined Step Change in 2017 having demonstrated a proactive lead in the development and delivery of HSE  campaigns and initiatives in his former role.

His experience in the military and his career to date has given him an extensive skill set including; the ability to lead and make decisions within emergency situations, experience in incident and accident investigations both on and offshore and the ability to adapt to situations as they change.
