Piper Alpha Virtual Remembrance Service - 6th July 2020 - Would you like to submit an image/photo and message for a lost loved one?

"Hello Everyone, this is MaryAnn Rae here, one of the Trustee’s for Pound for Piper. As we develop our plans for a virtual service on Monday 6th July due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis we realise that many of those who would typically attend a public service at the memorial gardens will be unable to do so. We are also mindful of the fact that many others may not have attended in the past as they feel it brings back too many personal and difficult memories. That said, we recognise that an anniversary remembrance service is extremely important for so many people who lost loved ones and colleagues to the disaster, or indeed are survivors themselves.

With this in mind we are looking to have a part of the virtual remembrance service where those that would like to can submit an image/photograph of their loved one."

Please read the following guidance before submitting your image/message:

The closing date for submission will be Monday June 22nd 2020. (this is to allow sufficient time for editing and gathering the images into a playable format as part of the service).

Images can be in the following format: JPG, PDF or PNG. The higher quality, the better. Please understand we are unable to include any video messages.

Please write your message with no more than 15 words separately and enclose with the email of the photo. Roy is is managing all the filming and editing and will add the text overlay.

Please be aware that we may not be able to use all the images/photos due to time constraints/quality. If this is the case we will be doing a separate film montage and have it posted to media/website so that it is freely available for viewing outside of the virtual service.

On a similar note, all contributors should be aware that these images will be available for viewing on the PFP Public Website and Facebook page and media such as PFP You Tube channel.

Please submit your images/message/dedication to both of these email addresses:

Roy@rsfilms.tv and info@poundforpiper.com

In these extremely challenging times our ability to pay our respects may be challenged beyond any comprehension, but no matter the separation, no matter the social distancing, our thoughts and prayers will always be close to those who didn’t come home from their last hitch, those who fought to save the men that night but suffered a similar fate, and to those who continue to bear the burden of Piper Alpha’s memory these 32 years later. Lest We Forget.

We will be issuing more information about how you can access the Virtual Service closer to the actual day of remembrance day - Monday 6th July 2020.
