Print this pagePrint this page

This summary guidance is one of three documents aimed at upstream oil and gas.  It targets those who need a working understanding of the principles to support the compliance processes by explaining the expectations of assurance and verification, and the benefits brought to safety and production.

Legislation relevant to assurance and verification, e.g., Safety Case Regulations and PFEER, are introduced and the relationship between managing Major Accident Hazards, Safety Critical Elements and Performance Standards is described.

Assurance (the internal process of ensuring SCEs meet their performance standards) and Verification (the process of independent verification of SCEs to establish compliance with performance standards) is explained, outlining the role of an Independent Competent Person (ICP) in verification.  This download also includes the Assurance & Verification Z-fold and powerpoint.
