Competence & Human Factors Steering Group

The Competence & Human Factors Steering Group focuses on the relationship between human action, competence and safety.  There are currently three workgroups within this Steering Group:

​The Human Factors workgroup is developing and supporting the roll-out of the online Human Factors Toolkit among member companies, and ensures that human factors are effectively considered through all of Step Change's work streams.  The group is chaired by Neil Clark (IHF). 

The Competence Framework workgroup have created a standard framework for competency in the oil and gas industry.  The workgroup is now refining the standard and deploying across the workforce along with developing innovative monitoring technologies.  The group is chaired by Mike Meen (Woodgroup).  

The Lifting and Mechanical Handling workgroup launched new Lifting and Mechanical Handling Guidelines in 2015 and will continue to support the implementation with Step Change's member companies.  The group is chaired by Kenny Lawtie (WoodGroup).
